It’s the first week back and everybody has a fresh head ready for the new topics of this term. Year six are also preparing for their SATs which will take place in four weeks time.

After two weeks of holiday, getting back into the normal school routine is a shock as suddenly, every child has to work hard and concentrate (especially year six). The topics of this term are the last ones that there will be this year as next term we will be in the next class up. Year 5/6s topic this term is Rivers, the year sixes will not do as much topic work as the rest of the school because they have to prepare for the SATs (as you know). The year 3/4s topic is the Human Body, they will be learning all about all of the insides and outsides of the body, things like the stomach ,the smaller and larger intestines the heart, the skin and all sorts of other weird and wonderful things(watch out their assembly will be most defiantly be gory!). Year 1/2s topic is Pirates, every KS1 class now has a pirate ship ready to board. AHOY MATEYS!!!!!

For the last week, the years 6’s have been practising their maths skills on old SATs papers. Phoebe, a student of paragon class, said that she was nervous about the SATs. All of the years 6’s have been working hard in the topic as well as the SATs. As you know, the year 6s are learning about rivers, most of the class are looking forward to it which is a good sign for the term ahead. Ellie has quoted to say, “The names of the rivers are really hard to pronounce."

Miss McDonnell, Year 4 teacher, said that her class are learning about their bodies and they launched their new topic with a visit to the Thackray Medical Museum. Some of the children were shocked by the easily transmitted diseases in Victorian times.

The year 1/2s have an exciting topic as they are learning about pirates. Felicity, a year two student, said that so far she has found the topic really good and interesting.

All of the children are looking forward to the topic ahead and are willing to learn more and work hard.
