Carlton Primary school has lots of amazing rewards. Mr Coe, our Head Teacher, gives rewards out every week during our Celebration Assembly.  There are a few different awards given out like Golden Book, Top Table, Attendance Cup and Team Points.  Foundation Stage have their own sparkly golden book as well!

When you get into year one the teachers sort you into teams yellow, green, blue and red. These colours represent the teams of Whitby, Fountains, Kirkstall and Bolton Abbeys.  You get team points in your learning books and maybe if you’re the first table ready in your class. We stay in these groups for the rest of our time at Carlton Primary School.  When your team wins, you stand up in assembly and everyone claps for your team and then you sit back down.

Mr Coe swapped Star of the Week to our new Golden Book in September. You get in to the Golden Book by having good manners, trying very hard in learning, always challenging yourself to harder work and always having a polite attitude to teachers and staff.  It’s always a surprise to see if you ave been included in the Golden Book and the hall is filled with specially invited visitors (our parents, carers and other family members) who come to share in our celebrations.

Top Table – people are chosen for the Top Table by being polite and sensible during lunchtimes for the dinner ladies.  We are also able to win a queue jumper; to get a queue jumper that means you jump the dinner queue (the dinner queue is a very long line).  You go straight to the front of the line and get your dinner.  When you’ve used your queue jumper you give it back to the dinner lady then you have to try and earn another one! You get the queue jumper by helping someone to first aid or letting someone join in the game you’re playing or helping out a Foundation child!

We are extremely lucky at Carlton Primary as there is always chance to celebrate doing the right thing.  It means we try hard to show respect, be polite, support each other and work hard.  Our school mission statement is: 'At Carlton Primary we work together, to make the best of ourselves, and of each other, for today and for the future.’
