In Gardening Club on the 13th January 2016 Miss Alexiou (the Leader of Gardening) read out a special competition letter from a Gardening Speciality Group. The           challenge she set was to draw a simple picture of a flowerbed with a special theme to it. E.g. the British Flag or the Queen etc. The children were all very excited about the letter and the competition but before they could do anything they had to research some flowers that could be included in the theme that they had chosen. E.g. for the British Flag to search Blue, Red or White Flowers simply just search “Blue Flowers” “Red Flowers” or “White Flowers”.

On the 20th January the Children can decide whether they want to paint or draw their design; it’s up to them to decide.  One main rule is that the children can’t work in a group. The children have to work individually.  The reason for this is because another child might have a really good idea and if one person tells the other that child could steal that idea. The children went to the ICT Suite to search their design and also write down the types of flowers they would like to use.

The Top Six children who are chosen go to a special awards ceremony where all of the children receive a special certificate and whichever the judges choose will be displayed in the Leeds in Bloom Flowerbed. The children were all eager to win because also another prize is that the children can earn £300 worth of vouchers!
