Welcome to the Lower Key Stage Two pages where we hope you'll find lots of information about our learning. We currently have three classes in Lower Key Stage 2 and if you click on their individual pages then you can see exactly what has been happening this term. If there is anything in particular you would like to see on here then please let us know!
Sunrise Class - Year 3 - Miss Dobbins
Monarch Class - Year 3/4 - Mrs Walton
Sutton Class - Year 4 - Mrs Weaver and Mrs Clark
The shortest half term isn't any reason for slowing down in LKS2. For the next 5 weeks we will be covering a range of learning based around Creaky bones, particularly looking at skeletons and muscles and why they are important to different animals. Fractions and decimals will continue to take centre stage in maths, whilst our PSHCE will carry on the body theme looking at how harmful tobacco and alcohol can be on the body. Take a look at the topic web below to see what other learning is in store across years 3 and 4. You can also visit each individual class page to see in more detail what each class will be exploring.
A new year heralds much change in LKS2, and the promise of another exciting year packed full of opportunities for the children.
We started the year with an inspirational topic using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as the starting point for lots of our learning. The children have created their own characters and chocolate rooms within the factory, and used them to write a new chapter for the book. We have also taken the opportunity to use Victoria classroom for some baking: inventing new sweets and designing and making packaging for them.
In a break from the norm we are not waiting until half term to start our new topic: Rotten or Righteous Romans. There is so much learning to be done through this topic that we wanted to get started on it as soon as we could. Check out our topic web below to see what the children will be learning between now and early December. This half term will also bring some very exciting off-site learning with the year 3s learning more about the Romans in York, and the year 4s embarking on their two day residential. There will be a solemn turn in the first week after half term as we commemorate 100 years since the end of WWI. Across school we will be marking this important occasion.
We hope everyone has had an enjoyable Christmas and a relaxing break. The children have come back to school enthused and raring to go. Our new topic in LKS2 is Fair Trade and we are taking an interactive approach to our learning. Through the next few weeks we will follow a Zimbabwean farmer called Jane on her ventures, understanding what is important to her and how fair trade can make a difference to her life and her enterprise.
