Through the teaching of science children are able to develop an understanding of the world through practical and investigative work.

  • To develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
  • To develop understanding of nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquires that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them.
  • To ensure children are equipped with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.

Science, wherever possible, is taught cross curricular and linked to our topics. The core subjects are embedded such as when writing up experiments and presenting results as graphs/ tables. Science provides opportunities for children to develop their ability to express their ideas with clarity and develop an awareness of the need to find evidence to support their views.
