Welcome to Royal Class
It has been wonderful to welcome our new Reception starters into school this half term! The children have all settled in really well and have made us very proud! We have had a great first few weeks getting to know the classroom, our special routines and making lots of new friends! Here are a couple of pictures from our first week:
Our topic focus this term is 'I wonder what is special...' We started the term by getting to know each other and learning about what is special in our school. We had a tour of the school and looked at all the different learning areas and spoke about how we look after them and we made our very own class rules for the year. The children have absolutely loved exploring their new classrooms and outside environment and it has been amazing to see how well they have done! They love going to the hall for our PE sessions and school dinners and have really enjoyed exploring in our wildlife area at school!
This then led us onto learning about everyone's families. It was lovely to hear about all the special things families do together. I was so impressed by the children's home learning where they drew a picture of who was in their family. They look lovely on our classroom displays!
Miss Ryder and I soon noticed that the children LOVE superheroes when we spoke about special things, so we spent a bit of time learning about superheroes and their special powers. We linked this learning to Supertato and had lots of fun activities based around this book. The children loved coming into the classroom and having to use various resources to save the super veggies and supertato! They designed some amazing masks and capes! We had a class full of our very own superhero's! They thought of their very own superpowers! We are now moving on and linking this to People Who Help Us and we are very much looking forward to learn about all different kinds of jobs and what our parents do for their job roles too!
We look forward to seeing where the children want to take their learning next!
